1. Those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal savior should be baptized because:
-
a. Baptism is commanded by Jesus himself. Believers have a responsibility to undergo baptism. The church has the duty to perform baptism. (Mark 16:15-16 & Matthew 28:19)
-
b. Baptism is the first step for a Christian to live a life of submission to God’s will. if Jesus is our Lord, we should be willing to obey his command. This is the outward manifestation of obeying his sovereignty and also a response to his love for us. (John 15:15)
-
c. Baptism is a public testimony proclaiming that Jesus Christ is our savior and the Lord in our life. (Romans 1:16 & James 2:17)
-
d. Jesus Christ set his own example for us. He is innocent. He does not have to repent, plead guilty and accept the baptism of John’s repentance. But he set an example for us to do his righteousness. (Matthew 3:11-15)
